Lhasa - The capital of Tibet and the home of the Dalai Lamas. Here you can find yak skulls, prayer flags, monasteries, etc. Lhasa is in Southern Tibet.

 

Potala Palace - Dominates the Lhasa skyline. Palace was built in the 17th century by the fifth dalai lama. It has 1000 rooms inside.

 

Jokhang temple - The temple is the holiest  and most active to the buddhists in Tibet. Was built by King Shrong Tsong Gompo for the Buddha image brought from Nepal. Jokhang temple is in Lhasa.

 

Norbulingka Palace - Is in the west part of Lhasa, with a beautiful garden surrounded by mandalas, preserved murals, and frescoes.Norbulingka Palace is on Lhasa.


Drepung Monastery -  Was once the largest Tibetan monastery with the population of 10,000 monks. Was built in 1416 and currently houses different colleges for the study of buddhist philosophy. Drepung Monastery is at the foot of Mount Gephel.
