བཀྲ་ཤིས་བདེ་ལེགས། (tashi delek) This means “Hello!” in Sino-Tibetan.

 

ཁྱེད་རང་གི་མཚན་ལ་ག་རེ་ཞུ་གི་ཡོད། (kayrang gi minglâ karay ray?) This means “What’s your name?” In Sino-Tibetan.

 

  • In Tibet Sino-Tibetan, Tibetan, Sikkim, and Bhutan are spoken. For tours there are english speaking people as well.

  • In public monasteries you should always take off your hat when walking inside.

  • Try not to talk loudly when inside a monastery and don’t take pictures inside without permission first

  • Do not touch any of the murals, butter sculptures, or anything displayed. Also, do not sit with the soles of your feet pointing towards the altar, it is considered a rude gesture.
