  • It is common to eat noodles, dumplings, tsampa, goat, yak, mutton, yoghurt, cheese (from goats or yaks), butter tea, and barely.

  • Butter tea, also known as Po cha, is bitter and is usually drunk in the morning or when guests come over.

  • They use yak butter and salt in the tea which makes it bitter.

  • Usually you can dunk tsampa in to your tea too.

  • The tea is said to prevent chapped lips. About 30 cups of tea a day is normal.

  • Butter tea was first made in the 10th century.
