It is common to eat noodles, dumplings, tsampa, goat, yak, mutton, yoghurt, cheese (from goats or yaks), butter tea, and barely.

Butter tea, also known as Po cha, is bitter and is usually drunk in the morning or when guests come over.
 - 
They use yak butter and salt in the tea which makes it bitter.
 - 
Usually you can dunk tsampa in to your tea too.
 - 
The tea is said to prevent chapped lips. About 30 cups of tea a day is normal.
 - 
Butter tea was first made in the 10th century.
